Crunchyroll and Funimation start the year with more Crunchyroll titles, including the first seasons of Attack on Trains and CLANG! as well as another couple of Sunrise rescues from half a decade ago.

Crunchyroll dominates this line-up for the most part, granted they had quite a hefty backlog of titles to deal with in the first place.

Starting with CLANG! Season 1, this show was dubbed a while back and it's now getting a release in the states. It's not a very good series for the most part due to its poor production and they even re-dubbed the main cast of characters which was stupid to begin with (it was stated they never bothered to contact the original VAs who were very interested in returning). Not surprised there's a LE planned but for now contents are unknown. Universal Pictures have the UK & Ireland rights and are planning something special which I do plan on getting so stay tuned for that (presumably delayed to 2018 as well).

Next up we have Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress Season 1, the first title from the Amazon NoitaminA slate that Crunchyroll was able to acquire home video rights for (not streaming). The show starts strong and falls rather flat in the end but I enjoyed the show overall especially the character designs and visuals. No surprise on the LE appearance either.

Then we have Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches which was pushed back after around six months (originally slated for July 2017). Don't know why it was pushed back but it could be either an issue on Funimation's end or the Japanese licensors requested a delay. The same is also happening with Hybrid×Heart Magias Academy Ataraxia which I've gone into more detail here.

Ace Attorney's first half and The Morose Mononokean are also getting releases with English dubs as well. So we're pretty much going to venture into the Spring & Summer 2016 territory for the next set of backlog.

Over on the Funimation side we have another batch of titles that were licensed under the Sunrise package deal from god knows how long it has been, like what Summer 2013 or something? Either way we are now getting closer to the rest of the titles being sorted out with the My-HiME franchse. There's going to be three sets overall; one for HiME, one for Otome, and another for the Otome OVAs. The latter will be subtitled only as it wasn't dubbed or acquired I presume during the Bandai Entertainment era. All are on Blu-ray as well which is a plus.

Lastly we have Time Travel Girl on DVD only and subtitled only. I get the subtitled only part but for flippin sake Funimation stop it with the DVD only sets. After further research the show did receive a BD-Box sometime early on so who knows what's going on with the show.
