Industry News: Crunchyroll x Funimation February 2018 Release Slate

As teased both a few retailer leaks and also one of the titles officially noted from a convention, Crunchyroll and Funimation have some big hitters for the month of February. Let's take a look, and you best save up some cash for these lot.

The February 2018 release slate features the following:

 - 1 DVD only release subtitled only

 - 3 limited edition sets

 - 4 Crunchyroll licensed titles

 - 5 Funimation licensed titles

Due to the constant confusion over what regions the shows are exactly, I've added a 'Regions (not final)' note for the select Crunchyroll titles. The others I can expect to be completely region locked otherwise.

So we witness a bunch of titles from the Autumn 2016 season making their appearance, most notably both Keijo and Yuri on Ice. Both are also getting limited edition releases and also have OVAs which are always neat. Regions are not final, but both are probably UK compatible (it's a mess in terms of wondering what is really UK compatible and what isn't when it comes to Funimation because they keep advertising them as B|2 when they aren't).

The biggest surprise is the rather early release of Attack on Titan Season 2, which is like 10 months after the Japanese broadcast came out. The LE is modelled like how Season 1 was so there's some consistency but details are skim at the moment. There's probably a digi-book involved.

Also receiving an early release is the Akiba's Trip anime from GONZO. Perhaps GONZO is pretty chill about it and decided to let them release it early I dunno (or I think it flopped pretty hard in Japan). Not as bad as Scar-red Rider XechS which is another victim of the DVD only trope that Funimation has brought back.

Like Puzzle & Dragons X, Monster Hunter Stories also gets a combo pack part release and there'll be at least 4 parts for the time being. Episodes 49 onwards are unknown in terms of licensing. Crunchyroll titles ALL OUT!! and Izetta: The Last Witch also make an appearance for home video release which is neat.
