Unboxing [UK]: Shigurui Death Frenzy - Complete Series: Special Packaging Edition UK (Blu-ray)

In this latest post we will be checking out Manga UK's rather old original version of the Shigurui release on Blu-ray.

Shigurui: Death Frenzy is an anime series from Madhouse studios and dubbed in English by Funimation. This series contains all 12 episodes plus an additional Marathon Play for those folks who like to marathon shows. This version is not the standard casing but rather very similar to Funimation's style of packaging that they commonly used for their releases (nowadays they continue this style with the Limited Edition sets but with a thicker artbox) so this will look rather odd in contrast to other Manga UK titles but the content on disc is still the same nevertheless. Like every release from Manga Entertainment, this set is Region B only but as it's also another one of the early anime Blu-ray releases from them, this set is directly based on content from Funimation's original release.

Two damaged warriors wear the scars of a twisted and violent past. Bitter rivals for the secrets of their master's sword and the right to his daughter, these samurai inflict wounds on each other that would destroy lesser men. The final chapter of their saga unfolds within a brutal samurai tournament, a gruesome contest arranged to satisfy the bloodlust of a cruel tyrant overlord. The disfigured legends of the blade must summon the strength for one last battle -  A final lesson in the artistry of violence where nothing is more beautiful than the kill.
