Unboxing [UK]: Rurouni Kenshin - Japanese Film: Limited Edition Steelbook (Blu-ray)

I decided to give you all a special unboxing, this title has yet to be released in North America and it has just been released in the UK. So here it is, the 2012 adaptation of the popular Japanese manga series Rurouni Kenshin, released as a Steelbook edition.

Rurouni Kenshin was released in 2012 and is the first live-action film based on the Rurouni Kenshin manga series. The film covers the first two arcs before the infamous Kyoto arc occurs (which the next two films will cover in the future). The entire film is very well done and I would consider it as one of the best manga adaptations released so far with perfect plotline, cast and music. I first saw the film in the cinema as part of Warner Bros special 1 week limited run in Cineworld cinemas where only six were chosen, one of them was in the same town to where I am studying in University. The entire film is in Japanese with no dub created which is for the best as live action asian cinema does not work for dubs unlike anime due to the lip-syncing.

Since it's been released under the Warner Bros brand, the film is compatible with North America's players (and anyone with a Region A player). In terms of the Steelbook design, it's pretty basic with the cheap look and sadly nothing on the back side of the case.

Plot:

Nearly 140 years ago, in the last days of the Shoguns, there was a man known as "Battosai the Killer," feared as the most powerful assassin. He was faster than a god, stronger than a demon, and had a leading spirit of the Meiji Restoration. In a flash he downs any number of opponents. Once he pulled out his sword, nobody survived against him. As the war ended and the new Meiji era came, Battosai vanished from the world. The only thing that remained was his legend.

10 years later, a man appeared in a world still in disarray. His name is Kenshin Himura, a wanderer who saves people with a back-blade sword that cannot kill. This is Battosai the Killer, who has taken a pledge never to kill again. In order to bring peace to the world so that his loved ones can live safely. Now Kenshin's battle begins.
