Unboxing [UK]: 13 Assassins - Japanese Film: Limited Edition Steelbook (Blu-ray)

Time for the return of the live-action unboxings, this time focusing on the latest Artificial Eye re-releases (originally exclusive on Zavvi online). The first of two titles I picked up, the 2010 samurai film directed by Takashi Miike known as 13 Assassins.

13 Assassins was released in 2010 from Takashi Miike who worked on numerous films including the controversial Ichi the Killer and the video game adaptation of Ace Attorney. The entire film is in Japanese with no dub created which is for the best as live action asian cinema does not work for dubs unlike anime due to the lip-syncing.

BD Language: Japanese
BD Video: 1080p HD Remaster 16:9 ratio
BD Audio: Japanese DTS-HD Master 5.1 Surround and 2.0 Stereo
BD Subtitles: English (Japanese Dub with Sign Translations)
BD Region: B
BD Discs: 1
BD Defects: None

In terms of the Steelbook design, it's pretty awesome and shiny. The spine is correctly placed unlike the original release and the original logo is intact for the front. Highly recommended.

Plot:
In shogun-era Japan, the powerful and sadistic Lord Naritsugu threatens to shatter the country's fragile peace and plunge it once more into war. Determined to stop him at all costs, an entire group of renegade samurai - each with their own deadly skill - plot his downfall. Massively outnumbered, the thirteen fearless warriors must face Naritsugu's lethal army in a monumental and bloody violent showdown.
