Unboxing [UK]: Patema Inverted - Ultimate Edition (BD/DVD)

Anime Limited have gone through a lot of new directions for the UK industry and for the first time they have gone to Kickstarter for UK fans to help support. Mai Mai Miracle was a success thanks to the US fan support but this time their second kickstarter was for a special edition exclusive to UK fans only. Here it is, the Kickstarter Ultimate Edition for Patema Inverted (Anime Limited's second kickstarter).

Patema Inverted [Sakasama no Patema] is a film that was already licensed by Anime Limited before the kickstarter started. The purpose of the kickstarter was to provide the film with a Ultimate Edition, those big chunky sets that have a lot of value to them. But unlike Mai Mai Miracle, this kickstarter was exclusive to UK and Ireland (however certain tiers were accessible to some countries) and earned at least £40,000 (that includes the money donated from PayPal owners, non-PayPal owners donated £38,265).

The Ultimate Edition set is 18cm by 21cm (like Gurren Lagann) in size and contains a digipack for the Blu-ray, DVD and the original soundtrack CD plus a replica letter from the film and a massive artbook called the Official Design Works that contains various amount of content from interviews to a short novel. All of the on-disc content is available for standard and collector's edition versions. Both the Blu-ray and DVD are region locked with locked subtitles.

Plot Synopsis (via Back cover):

Patema has lived her whole life underground. Following a catastrophic attempt to harness alternative power sources, her community were driven to settle in a dark, cramped network of tunnels below ground. She roams them by torchlight, dreaming of adventures on the surface. Age does not fit in comfortably in school or society as a whole. The world he lives in is known as 'Aiga', controlled by the tyrant Izamura's family for generations. Together - the pair are about to be pulled into something much bigger that will turn their worlds upside down...

Patema Inverted is available in multiple editions as a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack from Anime Limited (Standard, Collector's Edition and Ultimate Edition). The film is also available in North America by GKids and in Australia by Hanabee.
