Unboxing [US]: No Game No Life - Complete Series: Limited Edition (BD/DVD)

Apologises for the delay on this set, Rightstuf had some shipping problems due to their website change and recent conventions but the set went through without any issues, I just couldn't track it that's all. So here it is, the fourth Collector's Edition from Sentai Filmworks and they have two more incoming which I have yet to order but I will get them whenever I have the funds to do so.

Time to dig in and check out the world of No Game No Life. Also some of the photos below may not be safe for work, just to let you know.

No Game No Life is one of the most popular anime of 2014. Based on the light novel (now getting released by Yen Press via Yen On imprint!), the anime (produced by studio Madhouse) follows Shiro and Sora who suddenly get transported into a world where they simply play games to win. I honestly only watched the first episode but I have a general idea of what the plot is about. The series contains a lot of references to video games including Gal Gun, a pervy light gun shooter on PS3.

This Collector's Edition contains all 12 episodes on Blu-ray and DVD with a couple of additional physical goods that came with the chipboard box. The additional content includes a deck of cards, a double-sided poster, artcards, foil card and stickers. But the biggest inclusion to this collector's set is the original soundtrack, which isn't common for Sentai since they have done this in the past for titles like Dusk Maiden of Amnesia, Infinite Stratos and Queen's Blade: Rebellion. As for the discs themselves, the subtitles are locked and since it's one of those geo-locked releases any Blu-ray player can play the discs if the country code is set to America. If you don't have a Blu-ray player that can be set to USA, the European PlayStations are also an option. Note the DVD version is for Region 1 players only.

On the internet, they're legends: the tag-team duo known as BLANK, famed for their incredible game-playing skills. In the real world, however, the lives of 18 year old Sora and his 11 year old stepsister Shiro have been spiraling out of control. Now existing as shut-ins, they rarely leave their house and are unable to be separated without suffering panic attacks. Games, for them, are the safest retreat from reality. Until they win a chess match against a mysterious opponent known as Tet and find themselves pulled into a game bigger than any they could have ever imagined.

Now, in a world where the outcome of games determines the fates of both civilizations and species, they must defend Humanity in the ultimate challenge, vying against a host of otherworldly competitors for the right to rule them all! But if they fail, it means slavery or destruction for all mankind. No pressure, of course! Can two misfits who can barely handle their own lives somehow rise to the occasion and save the human race?
