Unboxing [US]: Nisekoi: False Love - Volume 4 (Blu-ray)

Back in December was yet another Rightstuf Xmas sale, however due to the UK's rate against the dollar being very poor I couldn't go after any of the sets at a reasonable price. But what caught me off guard was the surprising appearance of a bunch of Aniplex Blu-rays going on sale. I was hoping for Monogatari to turn up but it sadly didn't, but it did get the opportunity to finish off the first season of Nisekoi!

Here's the fourth and final volume for the first season:

Nisekoi is one of SHAFT's recent works and is adapted from a well-known Shonen Jump manga series which actually just ended recently. The first season of the anime adaptation aired during the Winter 2014 season and lasted 20 episodes. Aniplex of America picked up the license and I managed to watch the series through Animax UK (which isn't the best way to watch anime mind you) as they snatched the UK rights thanks to Kaze UK. Aniplex have the show on Crunchyroll for other English zones.

Anywho the show was one of the first to be given the volume treatment from Aniplex of America. Basically it follows a similar pattern to how Japan handles their anime distribution but with the US version it's less volumes but the price is still steep. Nisekoi was given four volumes with five episodes each (basically a quarter of the count).

The forth and final volume contains the last batch of five episodes (16 to 20) in Japanese with English subtitles only. Like all Aniplex sets, the discs are region free and the subtitles are unlockable. The packaging is very flimsy, similar to how the Monogatari arcs were handled. Inside the cardboard box is a Blu-ray case with a single disc, a couple collectable ending cards and a small poster.

For those who own the Kaze version, your release only has End Cards 16, 17 & 19 from this set.

Plot Synopsis (via Aniplex):
The season is summer - a time for unforgettable memories. At Kosaki's request, Raku helps out at her family's shop. Everything is going smoothly until a seasonal typhoon hits the town, rendering it impossible for Raku to go home! Now, Raku must spend the night there while Kosaki's parents are out.

At the summer festival, Chitoge is forced to confront her true feelings when she receives from Raku a matchmaking charm customarily exchanged when a man proposes marriage!

Things intensify when the gang sets out on an excursion to the beach. The girls show off their cute swimsuits as they have fun under the sun. That evening, as they sit together watching the rolling waves, Kosaki is unable to contain her feelings for Raku and finally expresses her feelings for him...!

After an eventful summer break, the students at school begin preparing for the Cultural Festival. Raku is nominated to play the role of Romeo in their class's production of "Romeo & Juliet," while Kosaki is appointed to play Juliet. Raku is beside himself with joy but is also concerned about Chitoge's standoffish attitude towards him since their trip to the beach. For better or for worse, the day of the Cultural Festival arrives, and the stage is not the only place where drama ensues!
