Unboxing [UK]: Tokyo ESP - Complete Series: Collector's Edition (BD/DVD)

These few items I received were bargains thanks to marketplace sales. This one was around £30-40 cheaper than the current prices.

Tokyo ESP is an sci-fi anime based on the manga of the same name, and animated by Xebec. The story is also from the same creator of Ga-Rei, Hajime Segawa. The anime, despite having an intriguing premise, didn't click with the community that well but Anime Limited acquired the rights from their Kadokawa Pictures deal and gave it a nice release.

The Collector's Edition comes with a digipack housing the series on both Blu-ray and DVD plus a translated booklet exclusive to this set. The cover art is also pretty cool, but I'll admit it's not as strong as the Funimation release. There are two Blu-ray discs and two DVD discs. Because Funimation's discs were already UK compatible this release shares the exact same contents and that also means the regions are the same (A, B, 1, 2, 4). Subtitles are locked for Blu-ray while DVD is unlockable.

Plot Synopsis (via Anime Limited):
Rinka is a high school student in Tokyo trying to make ends meet while supporting herself and her father. Her ordinary life takes a turn for the extraordinary when she witnesses a penguin and a school of fish flying through the air. After catching up to one of the fish, she passes out and wakes up to find herself suddenly granted supernatural powers. With her newfound ability to walk through solid objects, Rinka is about to learn just how transparent the world can be.

From the creator of Ga-Rei-Zero comes an adventure that shows how out-of-the-ordinary abilities of high school students can send a powerful message to evildoers the world over.
