Unboxing [JP]: Sengoku Basara HD Collection (PS3)

Managed to make use of my 1000 Yen coupon for Solaris Japan. Even better the rate got better in time so I finally placed an order. Here we have the second of two, which is actually a collection of games.

Sengoku Basara HD Collection (戦国バサラ HDコレクション) is a collection of games from Capcom, consisting of three PlayStation 2 games; Sengoku Basara, Sengoku Basara 2, and Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes. The collection was released in 2012 and has remained exclusive to Japan.

Sengoku Basara is essentially an action hack n slash Musou style game with a story set in the Sengoku Edo period. While the first two games are single player, Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes adds local multiplayer up to 2 players. Heroes also has a number of new contents and some alterations to the gameplay.

Format: PlayStation 3
Version: Japan
Exclusive: Yes
Local Players: 1 (Sengoku Basara 1 & 2), 1-2 (Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes)
Online Players: 0
Resolution: 480p/720p
HDD Space: 1251KB (Save Data)
Trophies: Yes

Sengoku Basara 1 did receive a localised English release back on the PlayStation 2 but Capcom modified the game so that any reference to the Sengoku names were omitted and the game's name was renamed Devil Kings to be in line with Devil May Cry, another Capcom produced game. Sengoku Basara 2 & 2 Heroes were never released as a result of the sales for the first game.

The HD Collection, as mentioned, is only available to buy in Japan but it is import friendly thanks to the mostly focused Musou style gameplay. Sengoku Basara 3 did get localised for the PS3 as Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes if anyone is interested. I purchased the HD Collection from Solaris Japan for around £30 but it comes with 2 (technically 3) games in one set.
