Unboxing [JP]: OneChanbara Z: Kagura with NoNoNo! (PS3) [NSFW]

Been many months since I last imported and the rate improved so I went onto another import spree. Next we have our very first CERO Z title for the collection, thanks to one of D3 Publisher's well-known IPs. As prices were going up I acquired a pre-owned copy instead.

To play it safe the cover is semi not safe for work.

OneChanbara Z: Kagura with NoNoNo! (お姉チャンバラZ~カグラ~With NoNoNo!) is an action hack n slash released in 2012 from developer TamSoft and D3 Publisher. This is the fifth major instalment in the OneChanbara franchise that began in the PlayStation 2 era as part of the Simple 2000 Series that focuses on budget games. OneChanbara was known in Europe as Zombie Zone and Zombie Hunters before its original proper name was later used in the seventh generation era with OneChanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad on Xbox 360 and OneChanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers on Nintendo Wii.

For some odd reason this instalment never got released outside Japan. The reasoning behind this may be down to when it got released as at the time the eighth generation consoles (PS4, Xbox One) started to roll out and then the game's sequel OneChanbara ZII Chaos got released not long after (it was that sequel that got localised in the end).

The game originally released exclusively on Xbox 360 in 2012 but eventually got a release in 2013 on the PlayStation 3 with extra content. The version I have is the PlayStation 3 release as it's region free like 99% of the catalogue. The game is still around to acquire in sealed/new but it was too pricey for me to consider it so I opted for a pre-owned copy instead as mentioned.

Also mentioned earlier is the fact that the game is rated CERO Z which translates to 18+ or Adults Only in a sense (but mostly M for Mature). The reason for this is because the game has a lot of strong bloody violence and gore. The Z rating mainly applies to violence compared to nudity/sex which generally goes as high as D for Japanese games in general.

Format: PlayStation 3 (also available on Xbox 360)
Version: Japan
Exclusive: No
Local Players: 1
Online Players: 0
Resolution: 480p/720p
HDD Space: 3200MB + 400KB (Save Data)

The game itself is import friendly thanks to the action hack n slash gameplay, however the story and its dialogue will require knowledge of the language. Thankfully there are walkthroughs available online that will help you on that.

This physical release also comes with a reversible cover that uses the artwork from the original Xbox 360 release which is pretty neat to have.

OneChanbara Z: Kagura with NoNoNo! is available to own on Solaris Japan. I bought my pre-owned copy from Solaris Japan for around £25.
