A new instalment to the No Game No Life anime series has finally appeared, and surprisingly it even sold out before its release (the second Sentai LE to do so since Monster Musume). My copy arrived a day after I moved out but I requested it to be sent to my new flat so here we are.
No Game No Life Zero is a 2017 anime film animated by studio Madhouse, published by Kadokawa Pictures and based on the light novel series written by Yuu Kamiya. The anime adapts the six light novel volume in its entirety which is set before the events of the No Game No Life franchise so it's still canon material for the anime only watchers. Regardless, knowledge of the anime series is recommended before watching this film.
Sentai Filmworks licensed and released the film for the United States & Canada territories. Much like the main series, the film also received a limited edition which is also the first from the distributor to receive this treatment as the other titles were shows.
The Limited Edition release features the film on both Blu-ray and DVD as well as a couple physical goods to go alongside it; a sticker and an artbook, all housed inside a rigid chipboard box. The design of the set will match with the main series if you own that also. Audio options for the film include English, Spanish and Japanese audio with English and Spanish subtitles, with the subtitled locked during playback. The Blu-ray is geo-locked while the DVD is locked to Region 1 only.
