Unboxing [UK]: Rage of Bahamut: Genesis - Complete Series: Limited Edition (Blu-ray)

With the Funimation US limited edition no longer in print and Anime Limited hosting a special offer sale last weekend, I decided to finally dip in towards the well-received Rage of Bahamut series with its first season.

Find out what's different for this UK release that's a near replica of the US version with this unboxing.

Rage of Bahamut: Genesis (Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis) is a 2014 anime adaptation of a mobile game developed by Cygames. The anime was adapted by studio MAPPA and published by NBC Universal Entertainment Japan. To the surprise of many, this anime apparently surpassed the expectations of many and became one of the biggest shows of recent years. It even managed to spawn a second season subtitled Rage of Bahamut: Virgin Soul which is currently exclusively streaming on Amazon Prime.

The UK release was announced under Anime Limited's label but it is actually a Funimation UK in disguise. The code for the set is under Anime Limited's but in reality it's a Funimation UK release. On the other hand, Anime Limited are helping Funimation distribute the titles for the UK.

The UK limited edition set removes the DVD discs to balance the price tag and offers some minor tweaks - the entire package is pretty much identical but the flipbook is actually bigger due to how the UK production was handled. In addition the Anime Limited logo is on some of the covers.

The Funimation UK limited edition contains the entire 12 episode series in both English & Japanese audio with English subtitles. The subtitles are locked and the discs are Regions A & B compatible. The on-disc content is a replica of the Funimation release.

Blu-ray Specs:

Plot Synopsis (via Funimation):
"Meet Favaro Leone, professional bounty hunter and casual scoundrel. When he’s not crossing swords with his arch nemesis and former best friend, Kaisar Lidford, he can be found at the local tavern spinning tall tales to anyone who will listen. After a one-winged demoness overhears his drunken boasts, she wrangles him into an unbreakable contract that will force him to make good on the promise he made.

With nothing but a destination in mind, the pair set out on their grand adventure - completely unaware of the dark forces working to fulfill an ancient prophecy that will bring about the end of the world. That is, unless a charming rogue, a clueless demon, a disgraced knight, and a tiny zombie can band together to change the course of history."
