Unboxing [UK]: Beyond the Boundary -I'll Be Here- - Limited Collector's Edition (BD/DVD)

It's been almost a year since I last acquired a Manga Animatsu style product, and this time I have decided to go for the UK limited collector's edition of the Beyond the Boundary movies.

Beyond the Boundary -I'll Be Here- (Kyoukai no Kanata -I'll Be Here-) is a two film set animated by Kyoto Animation and published by TBS, based on the light novel written by Nagomu Torii. While the TV series aired during the Autumn 2013 season, this version is similar to Madoka Magica where the first film (entitled Past / Kako-hen) is a compilation of the events that occurred in the TV series, while the second film (entitled Future / Mirai-hen) is a brand new sequel to both the TV & first film.

Sentai Filmworks acquired the rights to the film alongside Tamako Love Story and Chunibyo: Rikka Version sometime earlier this year, however Manga Animatsu acquired the rights to this particular film a lot longer as they have a steady relationship with TBS.

This UK release is the second major film to be part of Manga Animatsu's special limited collector's edition model since Akira's 2016 re-release. The model is basically a series or film on a standard Blu-ray case housed in a rigid chipboard clean artbox plus a see-through cover for the logos.

Beyond the Boundary -I'll Be Here- films are available in both English & Japanese audio with English subtitles on Blu-ray and DVD. The Blu-ray includes both films on the same disc, while the DVD is split across two discs ~ this is the same with the Sentai Filmworks release including the masters. The DVD is also confirmed to be NTSC as well by Manga Animatsu's Fray. Much like Sentai's release also, the subtitles on both formats are locked which has been a common trend in the US as of late. The Blu-ray is regions A & B compatible.

Can anyone outrun their past forever? Mirai Kuriyama's ability to control and manipulate her blood, even to use it as a weapon, has left her an outcast and pariah. But a chance encounter with Akihito Kanbara, whose own lineage is only partially human and allows him to heal from almost any injury, may have finally given her a chance at finding peace. When the cost of that path becomes apparent, will the two of them be willing to pay the price for a true happy ending? Even if it's achieved, how long can it last in a world where Mirai's mere existence is seen as a lethal threat?
