Starting September 2018 I have officially moved into a new flat and will soon begin work. That means the pacing of the anime hauls will hopefully improve over time. Today we have an unboxing for two Masaaki Yuasa anime films I picked up from HMV; here is one of the two!
Lu Over the Wall (Yoake Tsugeru Lu no Uta) is a 2017 anime film from director Masaaki Yuasa, studio Science SARU and published by TOHO Animation. The film is one of two that Yuasa directed and released in the same year (in fact they were a month or two apart during its theatrical release in Japan), the other was The Night is Short, Walk on Girl.
Lu Over the Wall is an original anime film that is more family friendly than his other works. Anime Limited acquired the UK, Ireland & France rights and provided an English dub from the folks over at NYAV Post. This anime is one of the few Yuasa titles that were dubbed, the other was Ping Pong the Animation from Funimation. GKIDS have the United States & Canadian rights for the film.
The UK Collector's Edition release offers the film on both Blu-ray and DVD across a disc each. The film is available in both English, French and Japanese audio with English and French subtitles. The subtitles are locked during playback. The Blu-ray is region locked to B and the DVD is region locked to 2 in NTSC format. Also included with the release is a 52 page booklet with a ton of artwork and information about the film.

Plot Synopsis (via Anime Limited):
After the divorce of his parents sees him move to a sleepy rural village, middle school student Kai is left lonely and bored aside from his sole passion for creating and uploading music online. Even when two of his classmates invite him to join their fledgling band, Kai is reluctant to get involved, but when he's dragged to a practice session on a deserted island he finds himself coming face-to-face with Hinashi Town's most feared legend - a mermaid, shunned by the populace as a siren of despair responsible for the loss of many fisherman in years gone by.
However, the fun-loving and curious Lu couldn't be more different than the mermaids spoken of in legend, and her infectious love of music and dancing might just be the key to not only unlocking Kai's heart, but also saving Hinashi Town from danger.
