Starting September 2018 I have officially moved into a new flat and will soon begin work. That means the pacing of the anime hauls will hopefully improve over time. Today we have an unboxing for two Masaaki Yuasa anime films I picked up from HMV; here is the second of the two!
The Night is Short, Walk on Girl (Yoru wa Mijikashi Arukeyo Otome) is a 2017 anime film from director Masaaki Yuasa, studio Science SARU and published by TOHO Animation. The film is one of two that Yuasa directed and released in the same year (in fact they were a month or two apart during its theatrical release in Japan), the other was Lu Over the Wall.
The Night is Short, Walk on Girl is based on the novel written by Tomihiko Morimi who also wrote The Tatami Galaxy which Yuasa also adapted into anime form years prior. Both The Night is Short and The Tatami Galaxy share some similarities like the artstyle and setting but they are pretty much standalone in general so you won't need knowledge of The Tatami Galaxy to understand this film and vice versa. Anime Limited acquired the UK, Ireland & France rights while GKIDS have the United States & Canadian rights for the film.
The UK Collector's Edition release offers the film on both Blu-ray and DVD across a disc each. The film is available in Japanese audio with English and French subtitles. The subtitles are locked during playback. The Blu-ray is region locked to B and the DVD is region locked to 2 in NTSC format. Also included with the release is a 52 page booklet in Hardcover format with a ton of artwork and information about the film.

Plot Synopsis (via Anime Limited):
"Senpai" is a man smitten with his inscrutable junior, The Girl with Black Hair. Although he plans to woo her by engineering a series of "coincidental" encounters, he reckons without the exploratory nature of this girl as she roams through an abstract, bustling night in Kyoto. From pub crawls to festivals, book fairs to impromptu musical performances, the night is short and there’s much to take in - how can "Senpai" possibly grab the attention of the apple of his eye?
