Unboxing [JP]: Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Rebellion - Limited Edition (BD-BOX)

After obtaining the recap movies I was even more urgent to watch the newest instalment in the franchise. So after returning from my holiday I instantly bought it (via Amazon Japan). Three days later, the set arrived. My third Japanese BD-Box straight from Japan. I present to you all - the Rebellion.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica (also known as Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica) is a new take (or as some say; a deconstruction) on the Magical Girl genre. The series was a critical success over in Japan that studio SHAFT have decided to release a trilogy of films for the Madoka Magica franchise. Parts 1 & 2 (Hajimari no Monogatari & Eien no Monogatari - translated as The Beginning Story & The Eternal Story) are a complete recap of the 12 episode TV series. The main difference between the two are changes to the music and scenery while certain scenes were removed or altered for the pacing. Part 3 (Hangyaku no Monogatari - translated as The Rebellion Story) however is a continuation of the TV Series & Movies which was released separately from the two, released theatrically in October 2013 and for home release in April 2014.

This version I am presenting is the Limited Edition set straight from Japan which includes Part 3 of the trilogy and tons of extra content including the original soundtrack (It's unlikely that it would be included in the domestic release from Aniplex USA) and a materials booklet. Note that Aniplex have only provided English (and other foreign countries) subtitles to the main two movies only. The rest are untranslated and left in it's original form, including the audio commentary.

Like all Japanese Blu-ray anime from Japan, the set is region free.

Homura Akemi, another magical girl who was unable to keep her promise with Madoka, continues to fight in the world in which Madoka left her behind.
