Unboxing [UK]: Prison School - Complete Series: Collector's Edition (Blu-ray)

One of the most popular ecchi series out there arrives in the UK without any cuts or censorship. Time for Prison School.

Prison School is a 2015 anime adaptation of the manga of the same name from studio JC Staff and published by Hakuhodo DY MAP. The anime simulcasted with censorship in order for the series to be broadcast in Japan, and as such the Blu-ray versions are uncensored. The English home video release also corrected a translation that was being used for a western reference in the broadcast dub by Funimation which backfired amongst the anime community (and in general).

The UK release was announced under Anime Limited then later noted down as a Funimation UK title. When the Collector's Edition was fully shown off, the set was re-branded as an Anime Limited set with the digipack and booklet compared to the US limited edition's fabric poster. Folks were also concerned over the show's fanservice but thankfully it has been rated 18 uncut so there's no need to worry about any cuts or censorship.

There's also no DVD version due to Hakuhodo DY MAP (formerly known as Showgate) not allowing NTSC discs for Europe in case folks are wondering. It's a region restriction thing so that Japanese owners can't play the discs (PAL discs can't play on NTSC players without changing the settings I believe).

The Anime Limited collector's edition contains the entire 12 episode series in both English & Japanese audio with English subtitles. The subtitles are locked and the discs are locked to Region B only. The on-disc content is a replica of the Funimation release.

Plot Synopsis (via Anime Limited):

"When the prestigious all-girls Hachimitsu Private Academy becomes co-ed, five young men are the first males to attend. But the girls aren't so accepting of their new classmates. Despite their best attempts, Kiyoshi and his friends are met with cold shoulders from the girls. So what better way to deal with rejection than a little bit of peeping? When they chance a peak at the girls during bath time, their plan falls apart and they are caught by the Underground Student Council. Unwilling to hear any excuses, the USC enforces an absurd punishment imprisonment! For a month, the boys must live within the school's very own penal system while enduring long, hard, and grueling tasks. 

But the work is the least of their worries. 

With the sharp crack of a riding crop and the harsh discipline from a stiletto heel, it's going to take more than sheer will power to survive the next month especially when the ladies of the USC have their own secret agenda."
