Unboxing [US]: Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun - Complete Series: Limited Edition (BD/DVD)

Another Sentai Filmworks limited edition release joins the collection thanks to Robert's Anime Corner Store offering the set at a bargain price on both their main site and their Amazon side. I went for Amazon since it has the pre-paid VAT stuff to save myself the hassle.

Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun (Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun) is a 2014 anime series based on the 2011 manga of the same name written by Izumi Tsubaki. The anime was adapted by Doga Kobo and published by Kadokawa Pictures/Media Factory. Nozaki-kun was one of the most popular title during its run and was able to convince Sentai Filmworks to even offer an English dub for the release.

This limited edition release is one of Sentai's earlier sets before they went crazy on the presentation. Included in the box is the entire series on 2 Blu-ray discs and 3 DVD discs, plus the original soundtrack & character songs across 3 CDs and also a bunch of physical extras including a hardcover artbook, poster and stickers.

The discs offer both English & Japanese audio with English subtitles, and a fair share of bonus features including the Nozaki-kun shorts and Japanese promos to go alongside the clean opening & closing songs. Just in case folks weren't aware, the Blu-ray discs have no region code and are instead geo-locked - i.e. they will play on all players with a country code set to United States, or heck just play it on a games console (PS3, PS4 etc). The DVDs are region 1 only. The subtitles are locked during playback.

You can order this version via Amazon UK, and MVM's version of the limited edition is also available.

Plot Synopsis (via Sentai):
You know how the story goes: girl crushes on guy, girl confesses feelings to guy, guy mistakes confession for a job application.

Okay, maybe that's not how it usually goes, but that's what happens when Chiyo Sakura finally gets up the nerve to tell her classroom crush Nozaki how she feels. Since she doesn't know that he's secretly a manga artist who publishes under a female pen name, and he doesn't know that she doesn't know, he misunderstands and offers her a chance to work as his assistant instead of a date!

While it's not flowers and dancing, it is a chance to get closer to him, so Chiyo gamely accepts. And when Nozaki realizes how useful Chiyo can be in figuring out what girls find romantic, he'll be spending even more time with her "researching" while remaining completely clueless. Could Chiyo's romantic frustration possibly get any more drawn out of proportion? The answer will be profusely illustrated in Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun!
