Industry News: Crunchyroll x Funimation October 2018 Release Slate

Before we go through the list there are a couple notes to point out. Funimation have noted down some delays for Testament of Sister New Devil Burst and Re:ZERO Part 2 from the previous slates (I believe the former is now due for September).

The other note to bring up is that a lot of the new additions listed here have been revealed over at Anime Expo 2018. Never-the-less here's what they have to offer for October.

The October 2018 release slate features the following:

 - 2 new Crunchyroll licensed titles including on-going part releases
 - 10 new Funimation licensed titles including on-going part releases

 - 2 Crunchyroll re-released titles: 4 Essentials

 - 12 Funimation re-released titles: 6 Essentials, 5 complete sets

So we have another weird release slate.

The Free! movies are now finally getting a home video release. However the compilation films (Timeless Medley) are exclusive to the movie collection which is $99.98 SRP. You'll want to watch these movies if you want to prepare yourself for the third season that's airing this Summer 2018.

Funimation must think that Speed Racer was a success because somehow they are bringing Zillion over to the United States. It'll be on Blu-ray with all of the episodes including the OVA, however it will be subtitled only (i.e. no English dub). I've heard the Blu-ray transfer isn't that great so at least the DVDs are included as well.

Concrete Revolutio is alive. The series was streaming exclusively on Daisuki and Funimation like Tales of Zestiria and ever since people were wondering what was going on. Now it's finally coming and it looks to be including both seasons (series was split-cour) with an English dub.

The Sunrise package deal is slowly making progress with the addition of Witch Hunter Robin coming to DVD only (because there is no Blu-ray transfer in Japan and Funimation probably thinks the show isn't popular enough to warrant their own in-house upscale like Wolf's Rain got). All that's left now from the Sunrise deal is the Banner/Crest of the Stars franchise, Angel Links and Tales of the Abyss.

From the Autumn 2017 season we have Juni Taisen and MMO Junkie. I did watch Juni Taisen and it's an okay but rather predictable series though I did hear positive things about MMO Junkie (aside from the director of course). From the Winter 2018 season we also have the second season of Dagashi Kashi making an appear though on Blu-ray only for a change it seems.
