Blog News: A Recap of Autumn 2013

It's that time of season where christmas has come again and I have pretty much spent all of my spare cash that I could use on anime. Could you believe that I have spent about £1000 on one particular hobby that not many people know about? Well everyone in the States has done it and so can I, but that's not what the post is about. Christmas is arriving and I only have 1 anime, 1 manga omnibus and 1 huge box set of manga volumes requested, as it's best to let them avoid the import complications. So here's a list of items that I have bought over the past autumn season.

Manga Entertainment UK
Dante's Inferno: An Animated Epic - Film (distributed by Anchor Bay)
Evangelion: 1.11 You Are (Not) Alone - Film

All the Anime UK

Aniplex USA

Funimation USA

Kodansha Comics
Attack on Titan - Volume 2

Yen Press
Higurashi: When They Cry - Volumes 1 to 4

Viz Media
Blue Exorcist - Volume 3
Neon Genesis Evangelion - Omnibus 4: Volumes 10-12

Live Action films
13 Assassins
Downfall
Flags of our Fathers/Letters from Iwo Jima
Ichi
Infernal Affairs/Infernal Affairs II/Infernal Affairs III
Man of Steel
Ninja Assassin
Pacific Rim
Pan's Labyrinth
Schlinder's List
The Wolverine
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

PlayStation 3
Asura's Wrath
DOOM Classic Complete - Via PlayStation Store
Hyperdimension Neptunia
Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX
No More Heroes: Heroes Paradise
PlayStation Plus 3 Month subscription - Via PlayStation Store

A majority of the cash went into the Madoka volumes for a total of £180 including postage. The Funimation sets were around £30-34 each thanks to UP1USA's exchange rate. A lot of cash were wasted on the manga volumes and the live actions because of the prices in stores as I could have gotten another anime if they were bought online, however about half of the films were part of the 3 for £20 offer so it's reasonable. Man of Steel and The Wolverine were pre-order titles so pricing doesn't matter there. Infernal Affairs trilogy I felt was going to go OOP however it turned out to get a restock at a lower price which was annoying at the same time. The PS+ renewed itself so that made things even more annoying.

So what's next?

This Christmas, the following titles to be added to the collection are Wolf Children, High School of the Dead Omnibus 2 and One Piece Box Set I.

In 2014, I have planned for the following:
Bakemonogatari - The Complete Series: Limited Edition USA
Chaos;Head - The Complete Series: Limited Edition USA
Guilty Crown - Part 1: Limited Edition USA
Lupin the Third: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine - The Complete Series: Limited Edition USA

and various more.
