It's 2014 and it's time to get some more items from the Xmas cash! Here's the first to arrive.
Note that this post has been updated (16th September 2015) to reflect the new blog format and add additional notes to the release.
Michiko & Hatchin aired back in the late 2008-early 2009 season, and was not touched upon in the English territories until Funimation picked it up (as Shinichiro Watanabe was involved with the production) and released it in 2013. The show unfortunately didn't sell well as they expected but it managed to air on Toonami with positive viewings (1 million views is a big thing for anime when airing in North America).
This Limited Edition set includes the first half of the season. Strangely enough, the Part 1 case is like any other standard release with the back cover containing back info and technical specs. It's not the same for its reversible cover however.

Plot Synopsis (via Funimation):
The creators of Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo turn squealing tires and wailing sirens into an art form in the south-of-the-border adventures of Michiko & Hatchin.
Michiko is a stunning escaped convict with lethal looks and a deadly disrespect for the lawmen trying to hunt her down. Hatchin is a hapless orphan pushed to the breaking point by the sadistic spawn of her fiendish foster parents. On their own, these ladies are nothing more than a Yin searching for its Yang, but when fate – in the form of a mysterious man from their past – brings them together, the world better watch out! With the future dead ahead and the police hot on their heels, Michiko and Hatchin burn rubber through exotic locales where danger lurks around every corner. It’s two against the world in this sun-soaked, Latin-tinged tale of partners in crime who won’t stop running till they chase down a dream.

Michiko & Hatchin is available on Blu-ray and DVD from Funimation as part of the S.A.V.E. edition brand. The original Part 1 & 2 sets are still available at the time of this post but I highly recommend you pick up those original sets especially the Limited Edition version because the show is worth it. The series is also available in Australia from Madman on Blu-ray and DVD while it's DVD only by MVM Entertainment in the UK.
