Unboxing [UK]: Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson - Standard Edition [3DS]

Apologises for not getting anything this month, I'll explain that at a later point but for now I have something else to show.

Here's a barebones overview of the standard edition for the latest Nintendo 3DS title released in UK & Europe today.

Senran Kagura, as many know, is a very popular ecchi video game series which plays it safe with its fanservice in some extent. In fact there are no exposure of nipples and such whatsoever and this is because of the video game laws over in Japan. Sex themes are fine over there but when it goes beyond the border they will have to be censored and as such in this series there are flashes of light whenever they end up transforming or get K.O.'d (by which I mean they have no clothes). Estival Versus has taken it to extreme lengths but it still manages to gain a D (17+) rating by the Japanese CERO board.

Meanwhile over here in the UK, Senran Kagura still manages to reach a 16 rating. Unlike America, sex themes aren't much of an issue as long as the characters are above age (or just remove the mention of their age in general, which is what happened with Burst and the other instalments). Marvelous Europe took a toll on its fanbase by making Shinovi Versus and Bon Appetit digital only and censored in contrast to the US release (Bon Appetit was also digital only in the US). In order to fully understand their fanbase they took the feedback and dedicated to take a different approach in distribution. By that I mean they announced a physical release and tons of special editions via their own website (i.e. 'Pre-order on Demand' I think is the term used), and you can't get a physical copy anywhere else. XSEED over in the US will instead be doing their usual work by releasing a physical copy to any online retailer like Amazon.

So, what's Deep Crimson then? Well it's the sequel to Senran Kagura: Skirting Shadows. Burst, the version that we all know as the first localised title in the series, is actually two games in one with Skirting Shadows as well as another campaign. The Versus series (consisting of Shinovi, Bon Appetit and Estival) are spin-offs set later on in the main series (the main series has only been on Nintendo 3DS thus far).

Anywho, what I have is the standard edition of Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson. It's basically a barebones release with the case and cartridge. There are other versions that was made including a 'Happy Boobs' edition and 'Shinobi Collector's' edition. Those ones include soundtracks, a poster while the latter also has a wall-scroll and a mouse pad. They cost around £54.99 and £74.99 which was a bit much for me as I don't have much funds at the time that I ordered the set.

Deep Crimson was released on the Nintendo 3DS in UK, Europe and Australia on August 27th 2015. The original Japanese release was back in August 7th 2014 and North America will receive theirs on September 15th 2015. The Nintendo 3DS game is region locked so you'll need the right console and game region in order to play the game.
