Blog News - Current Situation [UPDATE]

Right, it's been a while and I feel it's probably best to provide an explanation to what's currently going on for myself and this blog.

So let's begin.

Q: Why haven't you picked up any stuff this month (aside from Senran Kagura 2)?
A: Simply enough, I am running low on cash. The reason how I managed to pick up a lot of stuff was because I had enough spare cash from my finance. Funny enough you could put the blame on me picking up Aniplex of America sets but in all fairness those sets are worth it and are way better than the cheaper versions, it's just a shame that the pricing is the only problem with the distributor (doesn't stop me from getting more of their stuff).

Between now and the end of Summer 2016 I'll be taking a year out of University in order to try and find a temporary job placement so that I can earn money and also have extra things to add for my CV when I graduate. This part of my Uni life is supposed to be a 12 month work placement but I was unfortunate enough to find the right job (the placements site that the Uni offered had a lot of jobs but they weren't up to the level that I could handle, in other words only those who could get a high 2.1 or 1st could manage to get a placement on those sites.). Effectively all I want is an IT job whether it's just the basics, databases or even web-based HTML. There are jobs in my area but the job agencies which I have managed to make contact with could not help me as they only allow permanent jobs.

So overall you could say that I am unemployed for the next twelve months but I'm still trying to find a way. If it helps I could try and add ad-sense to this blog but I don't think it would be worth it. My parents are offering me so cash for doing certain things like losing a lot of weight (which I have been doing over the past two months, lost a stone if that helps) or just having a go on those lottery bingo cards. Don't get me wrong I do feel bad for doing this but once I find a job they wouldn't have to do all that.

Q: Okay you've explained your money situation, but is there a chance that you'll still get something?
A: Yes there is. As I said I am running low but I'm not completely empty. I have some plans for the next couple of months and thankfully the pre-orders for the current titles are not in a major 'must buy now' status. I was planning on getting the limited edition version of Fullmetal Alchemist (the original series) but apparently that set is basically a standard edition with some mini stuff which really doesn't make up for the price tag, so in a way I've saved myself some time from getting that series. Tokyo Ghoul received mixed reception so I don't see that going out very soon. The Sentai CEs (Beyond the Boundary and Persona 4) are high priced and like the other sets I wouldn't see those going out until the end of next year. Aniplex is Aniplex, as long as a UK or Australian version exists the US folks will be getting those instead. The two shows that I do want to pickup currently (that are coming soon) are Danganronpa the Animation (huge fan of the games) and Noein (loved the series, currently own it via Xbox Video), both of which are set for November and are on Blu-ray.

And don't forget there's also the two other sets that I've already paid for! By the end of the year, I should be receiving my copies for Anime Limited's Mai Mai Miracle film set which will come in exclusive Kickstarter Collector's set and artbook, and also Sekai Project's Clannad visual novel which is in an exclusive Japanese first print edition packaging along with the extras I've added to the set; the manga and Side Stories visual novel. The estimated date for both of these is around late November and December.

Now in terms of the remaining stuff (and the extra money I'll soon receive) I plan on using that money for the second half of some of the shows I already own, most notably Michiko & Hatchin and Eureka Seven AO because these two have been reduced to S.A.V.E. editions and the Blu-ray parts will eventually go out of print. As for Fairy Tail, I have decided to no longer go after the Parts and instead just go with the Collection sets, as Funimation will probably be bringing a collection set out every 2 months until they caught up with the second series episodes. One Piece is also catching up with the collection sets so eventually I'll get them as well.

As of right now I have nothing on order, but I do want to try and get something out for September.

Q: No Collection Update for August?
A: Like I did last year I'll be merging August and September into one post.

Q: Any pickup plans for Christmas?
A: Nothing yet but I might get some Vita games and possibly some Anime Limited sets if they are a great price. In the last two Xmas events I picked up the big One Piece box sets but since there isn't one planned for a third one (Volumes 47+) I've got some spare cash to get.

Q: Any plans on getting a PlayStation 4?
A: If I had a job already I would have planned to get one later this year but I can't so it's being delayed to 2016. There's still a good amount of games on the PlayStation 3 to collect.

Q: Why are you taking a year out instead of going back for 3rd Year at Uni?
A: Personally I feel I'm not up to speed with the course and by going back into third year it would be a complete nightmare. Other reasons include trying to find a job (as mentioned above), returning to Uni at the same time as my course mates who are on placement or year out, and once I find a job I can get more anime (because finance will provide less funds for final year students).

UPDATE:

Q: What about this blog? Is there anything else you'll post about aside from new unboxings?
A: This is actually something that I've been thinking about for quite some time. After 2 years I realised this blog has been going pretty well (and just now I've decided to add Ad-Sense to it, assuming it works). What I plan to do is to add more Overview posts since I do have a lot of titles that I feel I might as well add onto this blog including some video games. You may have noticed that I made some News posts in July and I intend to continue that trend for this blog when it comes to new license announcements, new release line-ups and also new shows available for streaming. Doing all this will help me bring something for the blog.

So to round it up I intend to post about the following:
 - Unboxings on items that I've recently picked up
 - Overviews for items I already own (same premise as Unboxings)
 - News for any special announcements related to anime and games
 - Random Topic for any discussion that I want to talk about
 - Streaming Update for the latest additions of anime available for legal streaming
 - Collection Update for the latest on my pickups each month
 - Otaku Collection for a complete collection of my anime and games

The timing for these posts will be random (except for Collection Update which appears at the first of each month).

*and if there's any other Q's I feel like adding, I'll update the thread here*

I'm sorry for not providing much to this blog, I am experimenting on adding other stuff like news announcements from the industry (like Anime Expo) and perhaps a discussion on some of the games & anime I've watched.

So until then, stay tuned.
