Overview [US]: Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus - Let's Get Physical Edition (Vita) [NSFW]

Back in October 2014 I picked up the limited physical edition for Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus on Vita. I've beaten the game and I really enjoyed it, and to my surprise I didn't even show off the set on this blog.

So for this next instalment of Overview, where I cover items that I had already opened up, I'll be showing you guys what this set has to offer. It's worth nothing that this edition is officially out of print so if you find one at a good price I suggest you pick it up. The set is slightly not safe for work also.

Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus is the first spin-off to the Senran Kagura franchise. While the main series is on the Nintendo 3DS, the spin-offs are instead over on the PlayStation Vita. Shinovi Versus is set after the events of Senran Kagura Skirting Shadows (which is known outside Japan under the Senran Kagura Burst re-release) where Asuka and her team train as usual until rival schools decide to declare a Shinobi Battle Royale on them. The game introduces two new set of teams with five characters each, all of which you can control during each story. The story in fact is split across four campaign, each following a respective school (with the fourth one locked up until you finish the other three, for spoiler reasons I won't say who it is!).

The gameplay has also changed from the 3DS counterpart and acts/plays like a normal Dynasty Warriors/hack n slash game. You fight enemies in one area, move to another and then tackle a boss fight. Each character can also pull off a Shinobi transformation which is where the fanservice lies. Due to Japanese and video game rules, the nipples and genitals are in facts censored by either a character's face or a small flash of light. It's not that bad and in all honestly I find it funny.

The Trophies in this game are also easy to acquire, and you'll be able to get them all offline within 35 hours of total playtime. Overall I do recommend this game and it's a good starting point for the franchise as it also helps recap events that had happened in the 3DS series.

Anywho this set is known as the 'Let's Get Physical Edition', and it's exclusive to the North American release done by publisher XSEED Games. The set contains a physical copy of the game with a reversible cover, the original soundtrack as well as an artbook with a lovely message from creator Kenichiro Takaki.

Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus is available for the PlayStation Vita for Japan, North America, Europe and Australia. Just be aware that the European & Australian releases do not have subtitles provided for the characters in the dressing room (this was also applied with Senran Kagura Bon Appetit!. They fixed this mistake with Estival Versus thankfully (and the thing is, Europe is not bothered by sexual content - heck the series is rated 16 for all of its titles released so far).
