Unboxing [UK]: Senran Kagura Peach Beach Splash - Girls of Paradise Collector's Edition (PS4) [NSFW]

It's summer over at Marvelous Europe despite summer already ending. The latest game in the Senran Kagura series has arrived and it's all about water guns and what not. I've picked up the collector's edition version so here it is.

Also to note, this game is Not Safe For Work because that's how it is.

Senran Kagura: Peach Beach Splash! is a 2017 video game published and developed by Marvelous. The franchise as a whole is essentially about a bunch of shinobi girls from each school battling each other on friendly terms, but the main reason it's managed to perform well is because there are a lot of fanservice with each character. The Japanese game rating system does allow nudity but only if private parts are censored (as it is law) so you'll notice nipples are never seen at all and clouds or shining light will appear when needed.

The game's localisation is for the most part uncensored and uncut, however the ages of the characters are never shown outside Asia due to potential trouble but it's more or less implied so it'll be easy to figure out how old each character really is (i.e the high school age logic of predicting [16-18]). Regardless here in the UK (and most of Europe) all of the characters won't cause any trouble for the law, it's primarily the United States and Australia that are the more troublesome rating systems.

Peach Beach Splash in terms of the storyline takes place after the events of Estival Versus, bringing back all of the cast members for this instalment. In addition it's also PlayStation 4 only instead of going alongside the Vita. While the Vita is a great device, it does have limitations and not every game can perform well on the Vita compared to the console version (Gal*Gun for example). PlayStation VR support is also incoming for this game I believe. The game is also a third person shooter rather than a hack n slash, and this is because the creator loves trying new things for his franchise, like for instance Pinball was one of his top choices and that's going to happen with an upcoming Nintendo Switch game.

PBS also introduces characters from the New Wave G mobile card game. On the disc we have Leo, Souji and Yuyaki. In addition Bashou is available as downloadable content. Speaking of downloadable content we also have characters from other franchises available to download - Ikki Tousen, Dead or Alive, and even Super Sonico.

The version I picked up is the Girls of Paradise Collector's Edition which is exclusive to Marvelous Europe's website. The set contains the physical copy of the game, a digipack containing the game's original soundtrack as well as a Blu-ray disc containing all of the opening themes up to PBS, an artbook and some downloadable content (Soaking Wet Uniform Costume, Colourful Bikini Costumes, Futomaki Roll Bazooka Special Weapon, Bebeby Pet Card, Set of Skill Cards), all housed in a box. The box and all of its contents are 95% modelled after the Japanese release. The 5% is basically the tweaks to the box using the English specs and also the BBFC logo on the Blu-ray disc (as it is required by law in order to be released for the UK).

In terms of other bits of content, the trophies are very easy to acquire and much like the other Senran Kagura games it will be an easy Platinum trophy. The audio is Japanese with English and French subtitles.

Just to further add info on the Blu-ray disc. This is the 5th anniversary animation disc that contains all of the anime opening & endings from every Senran Kagura game. It's a shame the anime adaptation stuff like the specials weren't included but at least you get some cool stuff. Marvelous have confirmed that the Skirting Shadows opening had to change the music due to licensing reasons. The Blu-ray is region free and the subtitles are unlockable.
