Unboxing [UK]: Chaos;Child - Limited Edition (PS4 + Visual Novel)

Another visual novel joins the collection after quite sometime. This time I managed to find a copy of the limited edition artbook release in GAME for a bargain of £9.99. This set was fairly rarer than the other titles due to not that many retailers stocking it (I would say it's GAME exclusive but the others ended up on other retailers in the end).

Chaos;Child is the fourth instalment in the Science Adventure franchise and is the sequel to the events of Chaos;Head but with a new cast of characters. The game was released in 2014 initially as an Xbox One exclusive before making its way to other platforms. The western release was made available in October 2017 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.

While I have not played Chaos;Head (but watched the anime though it's not as faithful as the original source), Chaos;Child doesn't require knowledge of the predecessor but it does add some nods/references here and there for those who have.

This release was handled by UK publisher PQube who also distributed a couple other visuals novels including both Steins;Gate and Steins;Gate 0. The version that I have is the GAME exclusive limited edition which basically comes with an artbook.

I'm glad that PQube have been localising some of the riskier or niche titles and while more and more Japanese games are being localised there's still a good amount that don't make it over. PQube's next visual novel titles are Muv-Luv (Vita), PUNCH-LINE (PS4, Vita) and Song of Memories (PS4, Switch). Steins;Gate ELITE will be handled by publisher Spike Chunsoft however there's no word on a European release at the time of this post.

In terms of trophies, it's like the other Science Adventure games where you go through all of the endings and unlock all of the extras that appear throughout like CG etc.

Visual Novel Specs:
Format: PlayStation 4 (also available on PlayStation Vita in the west, while also on Xbox One, PS3, PC, iOS & Android in Japan)
Language: English text, Japanese voices
Exclusive: No
DRM: Region Free on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita
Eroge Content: No

PlayStation 4 Specs:

Local Players: 1
Online Players: None
Video Output: 720p, 1080i, 1080p
HDD Space: 7GB Minimum

Like Steins;Gate, this packaging also suffers from being too tough to get the contents out of the cardboard box.

The standard edition version for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita are available on Amazon UK.
