Industry News: Sentai Filmworks September 2018 Release Slate

Sentai brings us Princess Principal as the next limited edition set, while also bringing back Negima! plus Maiden Japan have two titles to offer.

As a brief reminder, there will be no DVD versions for any brand new releases and re-releases. To ensure consistency select titles that have sequel contents (whether it's a second series or a second film) will keep the DVD option for now.

The September 2018 release slate features the following:

 - 1 limited edition releases

 - 4 dubbed releases (2 of which are re-releases)

 - 7 Blu-ray only releases
 - 1 DVD only release

Also included in this month's release slate is GARO: MAKAI SENKYU collection 1 on Blu-ray for $39.98 due for 7th August and DAI-KAIJU MONO on Blu-ray for $19.98 due for 14th August.

For September we have a number of subtitled only releases. Action Heroine Cheer Fruits, Frame Arms Girl, and Vatican Miracle Examiner are all going to be released without English dubs. There's also Glass Mask from 1984 which will also be released without an English dub but it's a fairly old series so that makes sense.

Negima! (aka the first series) is back in print with a Blu-ray only release. This includes the English dub as well. Sentai does have the second series which will be released at a later point. Funimation used to release the series but their rights had expired.

The limited edition title of the month goes to Princess Principal though sadly there's no original soundtrack and it's a lot of money to ask for only a few books to go with it, granted there's like 300 pages worth of material but I don't really think it's worth an extra $110 for that alone. There's also 4 metal coasters and a fabric poster to go with it. It's up to you whether you think the set is worth it or not.

The surprise of the line-up is actually Sentai managing to acquire the home video rights to Scum's Wish, which is a NoitaminA title made exclusive to Amazon Prime for streaming worldwide. I'm curious to know if Sentai are after any other title from that backlog.

Princess Principal and Scum's Wish are the only new titles with an English dub in this line-up, while Gunparade March and Negima! were dubbed prior.
