Unboxing [US]: A Lull in the Sea (Nagi no Asukara) - Complete Series: Premium Edition (Blu-ray)

The latest title from NIS America gets a special treatment for home release.

Here's an overview of the complete series on Blu-ray Premium Edition!

A Lull in the Sea, known by many under its original Japanese title Nagi no Asukara, is an original anime series animated by studio P.A.Works (Angel Beats!) and aired sometime during the late 2013/early 2014 season with 26 episodes. The show is widely known to be one of the best anime shows in recent years for its story and music, and it's finally here on Blu-ray thanks to NIS America. It's also the first two-cour show by NIS America to be released as a complete series set that is not a re-release (Toradora!) or license rescue (Cardcaptor Sakura) which is unusual given many two-cour titles from the distributor have been released into two box sets (like Hanasaku Iroha, Katanagatari and Umineko: When They Cry). The show is also the second title to receive an English dub with Toradora! being the first.

This release will also receive a similar treatment in the UK from MVM Entertainment however the discs and artbox will also have the BBFC and MVM logos so if you want a clean version, the US option is accessible since the discs are both Region A and B. Note there are so far no plans for a standard edition in the UK region with regards to Blu-ray. A standard edition DVD version is also available by NIS America that will be compatible on Region 1, 2 & 4.

The Blu-ray Premium Edition set offers all 26 episodes, a 2 disc original soundtrack and a hardcover artbook with character bios, episode guides and illustrations; all housed in a chipboard artbox the size of 5 DVD cases (the box is pretty thick so you could argue the overall size would be about 6 DVD cases). As stated the regions are A and B and the subtitles can be changed during playback via remote.

Now, four middle school students from the Sea Village, Manaka Mukaido, Hikari Sakishima, Chisaki Hiradaira, and Kaname Isaki must attend Mihama Middle School on the surface. While getting used to their new lives, these four and their new friend from the surface, Tsumugu Kihara, learn how true bonds of love and friendship can overcome any separation.

Note that I have placed the inside covers at the bottom of the post as I've heard they contain some spoilers for the show. Just be warned about that (I think it mainly applies to the inside cover for Disc 2's case).
