Overview [UK]: Durarara!! - Season 1: Standard Edition (Blu-ray)

Back in May 2015 I received my copy of replacement discs for the Durarara!! Collector's Edition. The set suffered from poor quality control from Siren Visual and because of the amount of hate being given as a result, Anime Limited announced they would make their own authoring for the series.

It's been a while and given Durarara!!x2 Shou is on the horizon for the UK I decided to provide you guys a look at what the standard edition set has to offer. It's not an unboxing since I already opened it, so in this case I call it an 'Overview'.

Like I said with the Collector's Edition unboxing, the series follows tons of people with various plotlines, varying from a man who keeps getting stronger after getting hurt each time, a woman looking for her head, a teenager who is in charge of a popular online chat and many more. It's a really good show and the light novels are even available officially in English by Yen Press if you want to read them yourself.

The standard edition essentially includes all 24 episodes and the 2 specials (Episodes 12.5 & 25). In addition there's also textless opening and closing extras. The subtitles are unlockable in this version also however the discs are region locked to B. The collector's edition set accidently had the discs region free but since this was authored by Anime Limited they have fixed that problem. Now the most important part is the subtitles - there are no errors whatsoever and even better there's an on-screen subtitle track so that you can understand what's going on while you're watching the English dub especially with the Russian dialogue scenes.

Plot Synposis:
In Tokyo's downtown district of Ikebukuro, amidst many strange rumors and warnings of anonymous gangs and dangerous occupants, one urban legend stands out above the rest—the existence of a headless "Black Rider" who is said to be seen driving a jet-black motorcycle through the city streets.

Ryuugamine Mikado has always longed for the excitement of the city life, and an invitation from a childhood friend convinces him to move to Tokyo. Witnessing the Black Rider on his first day in the city, his wishes already seem to have been granted. But as supernatural events begin to occur, ordinary citizens like himself, along with Ikebukuro's most colorful inhabitants, are mixed up in the commotion breaking out in their city.
