Industry News: Sentai Filmworks October 2016 Release Slate

Sentai continues to add more of their simulcasts in home release form alongside a re-release and a catalogue title.

Here's the list of anime that Sentai Filmworks have scheduled for the month of October 2016.

This month we have a bunch of subtitle only shows so dub fans will once again be disappointed, however I suspect next month will be insane so it's not all doom and gloom. No Collector's Edition sets this time around.

In total we have 8 titles in the line-up:
 - 1 catalogue title
 - 1 Blu-ray upgrade
 - 6 titles never before released (with one title releasing one-half of the series)
 -- 5 Spring 2015 titles
 -- 1 Autumn 2015 title

My thoughts on the line-up

This is a small but decent turn out. For starters we have 2 TBS titles actually getting Blu-ray releases without any holdback which is quite a shock so it's either they did fine enough in Japan that they wouldn't worry about reverse importation or there was nothing special added that they felt it was okay to release it (for instance other titles had OVAs which could cause issues). Either way I'm pleased to see SNAFU TOO! is finally getting released, I should get a hold of both seasons whenever possible.

Hakuoki Season 1 gets a Blu-ray release, so it's a good thing I waited it out. Season 3 and the films already got Blu-rays so it's a matter of time for the rest to get the same treatment. Going by the extras for Season 1 there's more than what the DVD version had offered so I'm curious about that.

The Perfect Insider gets a surprise early release. I guess the show didn't do too well so Sentai got the go-ahead with it. Oh well, I liked the show and I'm honestly not surprised it's subtitle only but nevertheless I'll pick it up.

And My Love Story!! gets a release! The show was a lot of fun to watch and I'm quite surprised a CE wasn't given to the series. I guess it's because next month will have some surprises.

That's it for the line-up. Next month is certainly going to have some heavy hitters, there's DanMachi, Food Wars, Triage X and perhaps even Amagi Brilliant Park and Knights of Sidonia Season 2 that could turn up. But who knows what'll happen next. Anime Expo is next week so we could even see an early announcement.
