Industry News: Crunchyroll x Funimation December 2018 Release Slate

We have now reached the end of the year for the Crunchyroll and Funimation slate. Once again their line-up gets revealed ahead of schedule, but at least we can now move on from waiting on what else was in store from the 2013 Sunrise package deal now that the last batch are being released in this slate.

The December 2018 release slate features the following:

 - 4 new Crunchyroll licensed titles

 - 2 new Funimation licensed titles

 - 5 Funimation re-released titles: 3 Essentials, 2 collection release

Due to the constant confusion over what regions the shows are exactly, I've added a 'Regions (not final)' note for the select Crunchyroll titles. The others I can expect to be completely region locked otherwise.

As mentioned they revealed a few titles at a convention and then the rest got leaked by Amazon US. So far they once again haven't revealed any limited edition sets, but considering it's the christmas season you generally don't expect that many to be released around that time.

The final batch of Sunrise titles have finally made their way back on home video - The Banner & Crest of the Stars franchise. These lot are DVD only which probably explains why they took so long. The Banner of the Stars release will include both seasons as well as the two OVA episodes released afterwards, while Crest of the Stars will also include the Passage of the Stars OVA.

From the recent seasons we have both seasons of The Silver Guardian finally making its way to home video. For those confused by the price tag, Season 1 covers 13 minutes per episode (totalling 12) and Season 2 covers 24 minutes per episode (totalling 6). Also being released are three more titles from the Autumn 2017 season; Anime-Gatari, KONOHANA KITAN and Urahara.

Samurai Warriors is back and this time it's on Blu-ray only which is a surprise, given it was released as a DVD only title previously. It's part of the Essentials line-up also.

Both Tales of Zestiria the X and Trickster receive complete series re-releases on Blu-ray for those who waited.
