Anime Limited have managed to license one classic Gainax title and release it in the UK for the first time not only on DVD and Blu-ray but also uncut!
Here's an overview for what the collector's edition has to offer.
Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honneamise is one of Gainax's earliest works and was made before Neon Genesis Evangelion. Hiroyuki Yamaga (NGE), Hideaki Anno (NGE) and Yoshiyuki Sadamoto (Wolf Children) were involved in the production of this film and they each did a tremendous job at bringing this wonderful film to life. Royal Space Force was also one of the first anime films outside of Studio Ghibli that I ever saw and after 2-3 years I can finally own the film on Blu-ray!
This film released by Anime Limited contains the film uncut for the first time here in the UK. Originally released by Manga Entertainment in the 1990s, the film contains a certain scene which the distributor felt was out of place for the film and decided to remove it to allow the film receive a PG rating by the BBFC, thus making the film more family friendly. The scene is back in this version and you can skip it thanks to an additional chapter marker provided by Anime Limited.
Besides the film itself the set also contains an original trailer selection, a pilot film and exclusive to the collector's edition a 20 page booklet featuring commentary and interviews. A French option is also available for the @Anime (French version of Anime Limited) featuring trailers for Patema Inverted, Ghost in the Shell ARISE and Space Adventure Cobra prior to menu.
