Unboxing [US]: Heaven's Lost Property - Season 1: Anime Classics (BD/DVD)

New batch of anime have just arrived, next up is one of the newest titles added to the Anime Classics line-up.

Heaven's Lost Property (also known as Sora no Otoshimono) is a well known comedy harem/ecchi series involving angels and crazy antics. The show aired back in 2009 and is based on a manga of the same name. The series continued on with another season and two movies (one of which just got released in April 2014).

The Funimation release contains the English and Japanese audio with optional English subtitles (not locked) for the Japanese version. The standard edition discontinued and was re-released under the Anime Classics label. Unfortunately due to very bad planning the re-release used existing stock from the first release instead of a Blu-ray sized version (the usual slipcover was created in Blu-ray size) and as such was given a new slipcover to fit the size of the case. Quality control at its finest (sarcasm). The case uses the same existing discs as before, containing 2 Blu-ray discs and 3 DVD discs.

Anime Summary:
Tomoki’s life was normal until a wish-granting angelic android named Ikaros fell from the sky and started calling him master! Of course, thanks to his raging teenage hormones, most of Tomoki’s wishes have something to do with panties. And that makes things pretty complicated, because one simple wish can lead to a rampaging robot made out of frilly undergarments. One tiny wish can turn bloomers into bombs capable of blowing up entire neighborhoods! If Tomoki doesn’t learn to control his impulses around Ikaros, and be more careful with his wishes, the chaos will only get crazier. Luckily, even with such a dirty mind, Tomoki’s heart is in the right place. His hands, however, are a completely different story.

Heaven's Lost Property is available from Funimation and Madman. The franchise has yet to be licensed for the UK.

  1. Do you think there will be any copies in the blu ray size?

  2. As far as I know there doesn't seem to be any plans. They did allow customers who bought the first version (with the Blu-ray sized slipcase) a choice between a DVD sized slipcase (which is the second version like the one I have) or an empty Blu-ray case with neither of them getting a new cover to fit the label. It's a stupid decision to be honest.

I'll be curious to see what the second season will look like after the whole fuss with Season 1 in August.
