Unboxing [US]: Love Live! School Idol Project - Season 1: Premium Edition (Blu-ray)

I'll be honest, I was not expecting to pick this show up until later on in my pickups but somehow this series sold out just before it got released. I was pretty gutted when I found out and so I decided that I will pick it up if United Publications was able to get the stock for the title. And you know what? They did!

Love Live! School Idol Project is an idol anime about a group of singers who try to rescue their school. I have never tried the Idol genre throughout my experiences in anime and this marks not only the first time I'll watch this show but also the first (in it's genre) to be part of my collection. The series has gained an incredible fanbase and sold just as much as Monogatari did in Japan. There are currently two seasons right now and this release from NIS America contains the first season.

The set is part of NIS America's Premium Editions where it comes in a huge chipboard artbox with an artbook and two slim DVD cases (one Blu-ray disc each). The artbook contains character info and episode guides for the first season, it does contain spoilers so I generally leave them until I have watched the show. Interestingly enough at the end of the artbook, all 9 singers have added their signatures on the page and it looks like they have written them up for all of the stock. The discs are Region Locked to A so only US players or multi-regional players can watch the show on their system. Subtitles have been reported to be unlockable during playback. Like a majority of the shows licensed by the company, the series is Japanese with English subtitles only.
