Unboxing [US]: Nisekoi: False Love - Volume 3 (Blu-ray)

Back in December was yet another Rightstuf Xmas sale, however due to the UK's rate against the dollar being very poor I couldn't go after any of the sets at a reasonable price. But what caught me off guard was the surprising appearance of a bunch of Aniplex Blu-rays going on sale. I was hoping for Monogatari to turn up but it sadly didn't, but it did get the opportunity to finish off the first season of Nisekoi!

Here's the third volume of the first season:

Nisekoi is one of SHAFT's recent works and is adapted from a well-known Shonen Jump manga series which actually just ended recently. The first season of the anime adaptation aired during the Winter 2014 season and lasted 20 episodes. Aniplex of America picked up the license and I managed to watch the series through Animax UK (which isn't the best way to watch anime mind you) as they snatched the UK rights thanks to Kaze UK. Aniplex have the show on Crunchyroll for other English zones.

Anywho the show was one of the first to be given the volume treatment from Aniplex of America. Basically it follows a similar pattern to how Japan handles their anime distribution but with the US version it's less volumes but the price is still steep. Nisekoi was given four volumes with five episodes each (basically a quarter of the count).

The third volume contains the next batch of five episodes (11 to 15) in Japanese with English subtitles only. Like all Aniplex sets, the discs are region free and the subtitles are unlockable. The packaging is very flimsy, similar to how the Monogatari arcs were handled. Inside the cardboard box is a Blu-ray case with a single disc, a couple collectable ending cards and a small poster.

For those who own the Kaze version, your release only has End Cards 11, 13, 14 & 15 from this set.

Plot Synopsis (via Aniplex):
"The girl I made that promise with ten years ago... was it you?"

On their way home from buying Chitoge's birthday present, Kosaki shares her secret scenic overlook with Raku. In the heat of the moment, Raku asks Kosaki the one question that he's been meaning to ask. Kosaki answers by nodding yes.

"Have you ever heard 'Zawsze in love'?"

After her birthday party Chitoge confesses to Raku that she too owns a key. Raku is shocked that Chitoge mentions a very familiar phrase.

2 girls... 2 keys... Which one could it be?! Raku finds the one photo he took with her ten years ago, but the girl in the photo is neither Kosaki nor Chitoge. She was Raku's fiancee chosen by their parents.

"I've missed you all this time!"...

Just when things couldn't get any more complicated, a girl named Marika, who claims to be Raku's true fiancee, transfers to his school adding one more key to the puzzle. Will Raku ever be able to find the one girl? Which girl holds the key to Raku's locket and to his heart?
