Unboxing [US]: Shakugan no Shana - Season 3 Part 2 (BD/DVD)

Shoutout to Robert's Anime Corner Store for not only having this set in stock but also getting it past customs by reducing the value. The set was relatively cheap but when it comes to USPS there was always a possibility of it getting caught so cheers! Shana returns for the final part of the anime saga (based on the light novels mind you).

Here's an overview of what the second half of Shana Season 3 has to offer.

Shakugan no Shana is a series that I enjoyed pretty well when I had to rush to get the original sets because the S.A.V.E. editions ruined the consistency for Season 2. I did find the pacing to be quite slow when I watched them but I was satisfied with the story overall. It's quite surprising to see that Season 3 has yet to receive a S.A.V.E. edition after an entire year has passed since Season 2's re-release. However I noticed that retailers were running out of stock for the second half (makes sense when Part 1 has twice as much thanks to the standard & limited edition) so I had to prioritise it.

This part of the story concludes the Shakugan no Shana anime series, which is based of the light novels of the same name. The entire series was adapted by J.C.Staff and they've done a great job overall from what I've heard. Unfortunately I've heard that this season in the franchise is the least favourite overall.

This Funimation release contains the second half of the series with episodes 13 to 24 on Blu-ray (2 discs) and DVD (2 discs). Given this is a Funi release the extra content is self-explanatory with the usual Funi extras but there are extras that stand out like the last Shana-tan short. Given this is a Geneon Universal title the series is only compatible with Region A and Region 1 players. Despite what the info states, the entire Shakugan no Shana series are all SD Remasters (aka Upscales).

Shakugan no Shana Season 3 Part 2 is available as a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack from Funimation. The series will most likely get re-released under the S.A.V.E. edition line pretty soon. Sony Universal have released the series on both formats over in Australia while MVM have yet to pickup the UK rights.
